Questions about paying M-Pesa with Summo
- Which stablecoins can I pay with?
- USDC and USDT, plus a few other dollar stablecoins, on the networks Summo supports. The full list is under accepted stablecoins on this page, and any other coin can be swapped in the app first. See the accepted stablecoins
- What can I pay?
- Buy Goods tills at shops, restaurants and stalls, paybills (including ones that need an account number) and the M-Pesa QR codes shops show at the counter.
- Do I need an M-Pesa account?
- No. You pay from your Summo account, and the shop receives the payment on M-Pesa.
- Can I send money to someone's phone number?
- No. In Kenya an M-Pesa number is the person's phone number, and QR Pay pays till and paybill numbers, not phone numbers.
- How much does it cost?
- A service fee that depends on the amount, itemized before you confirm. Summo sponsors the network fee, so you don't pay one.
- What if the QR code won't scan?
- Type the till or paybill number instead. Some M-Pesa QR codes are links the app can't read yet, and the till number is usually printed beside the code.
