Policy
Bots and automated access.
If you run a script, crawler or AI agent that reads summo.cash or calls the Summo API, please say who you are in its User-Agent header. Then if your bot causes a problem, we can contact you instead of blocking it.
01What to send
Give your client a User-Agent that names the tool and its version, and says how to reach the person or team that runs it. For example:
AcmeCrawler/2.1 (+https://acme.example/bot; Jane Doe <[email protected]>)
AcmeCrawler/2.1. The name of your software, not the default of the HTTP library it is built on.+https://acme.example/bot. Optional: a page that says what the bot does.Jane Doe <[email protected]>. A name and an email address that a person reads. The name can be your team’s or your company’s, and a role address such as ops@ is fine.If your tool can’t change its User-Agent, send the email address in the From header, which HTTP provides for exactly this.
02Why we ask
The contact is there so we can reach whoever runs a bot that misbehaves, for example one that sends too many requests or retries a failing call in a loop.
The User-Agent arrives with every request and is handled like the rest of our request logs, as the Privacy Policy describes.
03Missing or generic User-Agents
A request with no User-Agent, or with an HTTP library’s default such as python-requests/2.32 or curl/8.7, gives us no way to tell your traffic from anyone else’s. We may rate-limit or block such requests, starting with the heavier pages and API endpoints. A client that identifies itself is one we can contact first.
04Crawling politely
- Follow robots.txt.
- Send one request at a time and keep the rate modest.
- Slow down when you get a 429 or 5xx response, and retry later rather than at once.
- Start from llms.txt and the sitemap instead of crawling every page.
05AI agents using a Summo account
An agent that acts for a Summo account holder connects through Summo’s MCP server, or the REST API for agents, both described in AI agents. It signs in as that person, and every request it files waits for their approval in the Summo app.
