01Network fees

Every blockchain charges a fee, known as gas, to process a transaction. That fee is ordinarily payable only in the network’s native coin: ETH on Ethereum, SOL on Solana, POL on Polygon.

On Summo, a network fee can be paid in any of three ways, on every supported network:

• In the network’s native coin. The fee is paid directly to the network from the account’s balance of that coin, at cost. Summo adds no fee on this path.
• Through Summo’s paymaster service. Summo pays the network fee on the account’s behalf and charges the account in a supported token instead, such as a stablecoin, plus a small service fee. No native coin is required.
• With gas credits. The fee is deducted from a credit balance held with Summo. See gas credits below.

The available options and the cost of each are shown before every transaction is confirmed. Nothing is charged after the fact, and there is no monthly or account fee. Network fees vary by network: typically a fraction of a cent on Solana or Base, and higher on Ethereum during periods of congestion.

02Fee tokens

Through the paymaster service, a network fee can be paid in a range of supported tokens. By default, the fee is taken in the token being sent when that token is enabled for fees; any other option can be selected before confirming.

03Gas credits

Gas credits are a balance held with Summo that pays network fees on the account’s behalf. With gas credits, any held token can be sent, including one not enabled for fees, and no native coin is needed.

Credits are added to the balance through referrals and welcome offers. The credit balance, and the amount applied to a transaction, are shown with the fee options before confirmation.
